Opinions on this model Precision

Hi, I have the potential to get this P bass in a trade deal, but I've never seen or even heard of this model. It's a 2011 bass. Any opinions out there on tone, feel, and overall quality of this instrument?

That's the American Special. I have that same bass, and it's fantastic. I'm not a fan of the Greasebucket tone circuit, so I replaced it with a standard circuit. It's the best-built, best-playing bass I've ever owned.

Thanks, I think it looks like a great instrument, but the block inlays and unusual bridge are throwing me for a loop. I've got no reason to doubt that the instrument is authentic, but just checking...and out of curiosity, what don't you like about the greasebucket compared to the standard setup?

The American Special doesn't have block inlays or a high mass bridge, or come in a 3TS (until 2012). Try again.

I'd like to venture a guess: a Classic series 70's Precision Bass, judging by the block inlays, sunburst & black guard and 70's style headstock.

Can nobody here read? The headstock clearly reads, "American Special." It does, indeed, have a high mass bridge (Leo Quan II) and Greasebucket circuit.

I don't like the sound of the Greasebucket, it kills the bass tone, and leaves it very trebly and tinny.

I believe those only come with a maple board.

I think they might be. It's hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like there's no binding. The only bass I know that comes with blocks and no binding is the Squier Jag.
