The original gauge of the strings in a SquierJazz Bass VM ?

Hi everybody I have a Jazz Bass VM Squier in sunburst, and i want to know, whats is the original gauge ?

Because on the Fender website I see ; 45/65/80/100
But in the website of the shop where I bought my bass, i'ts indicated : 45/65/85/105

So, where is the true ? it is possible that the store has changed the strings ?

Probleme solved : my teacher jsut said me that the gauge is 45/105

thx

Strings: Gauges .045, .065, .085, .105 as listed at http://www.fender.com/products/vinta...fied-jazz-bass (look again).

You cannot buy those Original "Fender 7250 NPS" strings in any store, site nor from Fender.

Don't lose them since I think they are many times better than what you can find as available from any manufacturer anywhere. You won't be able to find them again!

Mine were 45 to 105 too, at least that's what I replaced them with and they fit the nut slots fine.

Why confused? Was yours a 70s model from France or something?

Seems as though there's some contradictory info, but I'll say that when I play my buddy's that still has its stock strings, feels to me like they're light gauge.

Many people still believe this - but if you have the D'A strings side-by-side with the MII "7250" strings, you'd see they are not the same.

Don't let the colored beads fool you.

I checked this out very closely when I bought both of my MII basses, and even compared with a new set of actual Fender 7250 NPS strings in a Fender box, they weren't even close.

As it is - and to the best of my current information - one still cannot buy the same OE MII strings from neither Fender nor a third party.

If you want a set of them then you've gotta buy a new Squier VM. I'm not positive if they are also on the CVs or not.

That's too bad since they are really good strings. GREAT strings, even!

+1

Most Fender's come with .45-.105 IIRC, so I'd think that Squire would as well.

Just to add some more confusion - I have the VM 70's Jazz and a CV 50's P. I replaced the strings on the Jazz with D'Addario XL Half-Rounds in .045-.065-.080-.100. They certainly seem to be the same gauge as the original strings.

The CV 50's P I bought used, so I think it's from 2011. I'm sure when I looked at the specs early in 2012 it said .045-.100 for that bass too, but now it says .045-.105. I put D'Addario XL Chromes flat wounds on it and I wanted to go heavier so I used .050-.070-.085-.105. They definitely are thicker than the originals - even the E and A strings.
