Patrick O'Hearns bass (Missing Persons)
I was watching this old video of Missing Persons, I Can't Think About Dancing, and wondered what kind of bass Patrick O'Hearn is playing. It looks really cool and light.
Wow what a cool song. I can't identify it, but wow the amp sounds like an overdriven SVT... in all its glory....:D
I'm more interested in his boots.
I reserve the right to be wrong, but I recall an interview with him saying it was a highly decorated and hacksaw modified Carvin bass, probably a LB40 model.
Kind of like Geddy Lee's Precision Bass! :help:
BTW, I am a big fan of Patrick's solo work. :bassist:
Patrick mostly plays his fretless Sting Ray when he's not playing keyboards in his own music.
Great tone from anything he does bass wise.
This is one of my favorite compositions of his:
Put on a really good set of headphones or sit in front of a nice high end stereo system and enjoy Patrick's mastery of the soundscape.
This was probably as close to a hit as he got as a solo artist, I think, still a wonderful song after all these years.
I really love his work with Zappa.
Unfortunately, the only time I saw Frank Pat was not with him, in 1972. But The Mothers still sounded great.
