Peavey Cirrus USA???

Silly question for the day...

How can you tell if a Peavey Cirrus is made in the USA or elsewhere?

Thanks in advance!

I thought they all were U.S. made. But I could be wrong.

There was a Cirrus BXP import.

There are BXP models, which are imported. There are ways to tell, but the lines blur at times, so you have to know what to look for. I believe the BXP models have 'BXP' on the headstock. They also tend to use mono-rail bridges, as opposed to solid ABM or Hipshot on the US models. There are however US-made bolt-on Cirri that also use the mono-rail bridge, which is why things can get a little confusing. US-mades, to my eye, have much nicer looking woods, and can be found in either glossy or matte finishes, where the BXP's only have glossy finishes. US Cirri sometimes have a carbon fiber covering on the headstock. That can be a dead giveaway. Some late-model custom shop Cirri will have the Millennium preamp, which has a stacked knob configuration on the mid knob. If you're still unsure, post a pic here, and someone will point you in the right direction.

NicJim has pointed nearly all of the things to look for. The US model will have the serial number pressed into the back of the headstock. The imports have the serial number either screen printed on the back, or a silver sticker. But to boil it down...

US Cirrus *neck through* will have:
• ABM bridge
• pressed-in serial number

US Cirrus *bolt on* will have:
• Individual "finger style" bridges
• stacked-mid knob due to Mill preamp

If it's a bolt-on Cirrus, it's a US model. I don't believe they made an import Cirrus with a bolt-on neck.

Import Cirrus will have:
• neck-thru construction
• "BXP" on the headstock
• individual "finger style" bridges
• serial number will be screen printed or a sticker

Also, as NicJim said, the wood top is MUCH nicer on a US Cirrus. The BXP models have a cheesy, gloos veneer that looks nice at first glance, but is actually really cheap.

I've also seen custom shops that have a Hipshot A-style bridge like the ones on a Millennium, but the ABM is definitely more common.
