| | | | Pedulla Buzz: Why do they sound so good? Is it the materials, or they way it's assembled? Maybe the skill of the luthier?
The necks are 3 piece maple, neck-through. Nothing unique there. Flame or quilt maple body wings. Ebony fingerboard. Plenty of those in bassland. I know the finish on the fingerboard has to play a big part, but these basses just sing and sustain forever. And the low B on the Pentabuzz is easily the best I've heard on a fretless - on a 34 inch scale.
So does anybody know what the magic fairy dust is that they use in the Pedulla shop?

It is all the above plus the Taperwounds help, a bone nut, and I also think the ABM roller bridge contributes. The polyester finish Michael uses is pretty key. Ummm, the all maple body is pretty dense and helps sustain. The reason they are the best is because they ARE the best!

The craftsmanship is second to none.... Meticulous, and perfect in everyway.
I sold tehm except for one at this time but want to get another one day soon.
MVP5 -Deluxe
MVP5 - AAAAA Quilt
Two Buzz basses in Flame Maple
A THUNDER bass 5
and a Series II 5 String
My favorite Pedulla is the MVP.. It just fits the body right.. AND to me is the most comfy neck that i have ever played to this day....
And even I have a hard time chipping up the finish on them...

He really knows his woods and has been building this design for nearly 35 years, so he's got it down. They were (and still are) the standard for Studio Fretless Bass in Nashville at least. |

So does anybody know what the magic fairy dust is that they use in the Pedulla shop? | My theory is it's in the electronics. I considered buying one once. When you first play it it's just amazing. The tone just jumps out at you and it's a great constructed bass. But after a while fooling around, I sort of decided that the electronics that gives you the great tone, also limits the range you can get out of the bass. So I didn't buy it. I know a dude who has one and if you love that basic tone, it will put you in heaven. |

That bass was great ... Micheal P later converted it to the first Soap Bar Pedulla basses. Pre Thunderbass.
It was much fatter sounding then.

I had a signature Limited MVP5 peakcock blue in AAAA quilt.. but the red one was just real comfy and like home.. I never should have sold that one..
I was not a fan of my thunderbass though...
But a new Nuance would be nice... ONLY if i could Face dots and the knobs that are on the MVP series... Quote:
