Hi Pedulla owners.

I have a Rapture 5 string with double jazz bartolini pickups on it. I am thinking switching out the pre for a Flex Core pre. Has anyone done this and can comment on the end result? Seems like i could get a lot more tone options with what I have seen and heard. I saw someone above on there that did it with bart soapbars on a Thunderbass I think it was.

Talk to me. :-)

Thanks!

Hi! bought this 2nd hand MVP#1996 from a good fella for a while.

It's funny that this one was sold here before, now, it's mine (I'm not in the states)

Very long journey for this lovely MVP!

Our planet is getting smaller, and closer everyday. Cheers all!

Is anyone interested in trading their 19mm cherry burst pentabuzz for a 19mm arctic night penta by any chance?

Or if someone has a 19mm cherry burst they want to sell, please PM me.

There's a Pope thread in the electronics section and I believe another in the Roscoe section and they discuss that preamp with barts. Not sure if anyone has done it with the jazz barts but it's worth a look for you.

It looks odd that the polyester on the fb is completely gone. I wouldn't think it would wear off so evenly. That's the odd part about this one.

It does look like bare ebony, almost fretted but in the description it does say it has the epoxy( which is really polyester I believe) finish.

I just checked on the Pedulla website. The coating is polyester. I didn't know, but there are polyester and epoxy resins.

I'm the one who put the Flexcore in the Thunderbass. The stock sound was sweet, but I found I wanted more snap on the high end treble frequencies and missed not having a mid control with the stock preamp only being 2-band. The stock sound was definitely low-mid heavy and very aggressive I would say, which didn't bother me, but I just wanted the ability to balance the mid aggressiveness with a "sweeter", crispier high end, so I went looking for a preamp that would allow me access to at least 10KHZ of treble as well as a mid control. The stock treble frequency just seemed to be set lower than the 10KHZ I get from the Pope preamp (the Pope allows me to change between 6KHZ and 10KHZ). I noticed strings sound brighter longer with the increased treble frequency too and, therefore, the bass seems less "finicky" in wanting new strings as often.

If I had to define the tone change subjectively, I would say the original setup had a more "rock aggressive" vibe versus the fact that the new setup has that vibe as well (when I run the pickups in series mode) but adds an ability to get my version of a better funk/R&B/jazz thing. The Mike Pope Flexcore is heaven sound and flexibility-wise and suited my goals perfectly. I can get everything from the original Thunderbass tones to Alembic tones to P-bass tones. You may have a similar experience going with the Pope in the Rapture

Does anyone have a Pedulla with Factory original wiring that looks like this? I bought this from a dealer and when it arrived I saw the electronics cavity had Mouser pots with bare wood showing under what looks like aftermarket routes? Also, there are a couple of floating wired that go nowhere.

Dealer says "looks fine to us!"

My other '86-87 ear Pedullas have DiMarzio pots and no bare wood showing...all covered with the factory electrostatic dark grey paint.

Anyone know if this wiring in the 1987 IS correct/original? I kind of read the riot act to the dealer when it arrived because I thought it was modded. Am I wrong and Pedulla did this sort of stuff...or is the dealer FOS?

I'm leaning toward FOS because the bass arrived with a number of other undisclosed issues. It was my worst buying experience EVER in 30 years of buying gear and I've owned hundreds of instruments...plus, this was from a major name dealer who I expected better from.

I'd say it's not original... mine is a 89' pedulla, no bare wood showing. I doubt Pedulla would let something go out their factory like that.
too bad.

I don't have my bass with me right now, but I believe the pots on mine are sort of glued with epoxy or something of the kind. I'm 100% the jack is, but can't quite recall about the pots.
But if this is so for all pedullas, then someone had to scrape that glue off to change the pots in yours, leaving the bare wood.
