Pedulla MVP 4 - Any Experiences?

Is anyone familiar with this bass?
How would you characterise the tone?
Any other thoughts or insights would be welcome.

Nobody at all?

This must be a very rare instrument indeed.

Fantastic instrument. All maple construction. Used to be the cat's meaow, once upon a time. No longer "in." Will Lee plays one still. Hope that helps.....

So why are they no longer the canine gonads?

Was looking at the website, they ask for serious dollars - so maybe a 1989 model for GBP 500 might be a good deal?

Don't know. That is a great price though I'd play one before buying. Might not be your thing. Good luck.

I've owned one from a long time, bought new in the late 80s. Through-neck, Ebony fretboard, Bartolini P/J pickup configuration. A joy to play and a rich, complex tone with awesome sustain. Probably my best bass overall, though I rarely take it out - it just feels so fine and fragile compared to my Steinberger. I payed about $1500 for mine back in the day. New Pedullas go for easily twice that now. If you can find one in good condition for under a grand, grab it.

Doug Johns uses one. He is on "Ask a Pro" on Talkbass. Check him out.

So where is it going to be in tone territory approximately?
P, Jazz, Ray or Rick...

Great bass made right here in the USA.

I've never played one, but I'd love to. I've read many great things about them here, with precious little negativity. If it helps, Gene Simmons had two that he used for years (though his must have been customs as they has only single p pickups). He always sounded great with them.

It sounds like a through-neck, hard-wood bass with P/Js. Which to say, not exactly like any of the above. Probably closer to Jazz/Rick than to Precision/Stingray.

Wicked bass for thumping, if that's your thing. A great "everything bass".

So not a great candidate if I want P-Bass, Gibson Sg type tones?

GREAT for P, not so much for gibby. The pickup configurations he offers are very much Fender.

500 quid is a STEAL. You could easily sell it for twice that if you didn't like it.

great body size, neck and versatility of tone.
