Pickups too hot? LTD Vintage 214 Fretless
Just picked up a new LTD Vintage 214 Fretless.
It's a pretty decent bass for the price, but I'm suprised at how hot the passive pickups are. Seriously, they are so much louder then my Stock P-bass and my P-bass with Seymour Duncans that switching between basses at a gig will be something of a pain in the *ss.
The pickups don't seem to sound bad, just too hot.
I can compensate as needed, but it would be nice if it had a more normal output level so I could just switch basses on stage and not have to mess with signal chain levels.
Anyone ever run into this sort of thing before? Should I replace the pups or is there another simple and economical fix I can try?
I played bass in your Grandpa's first band.
