Usually means the bass feel comfortable to play based on the neck thickness, string height and balance of the instrument. "Butter" is a highly subjective term - it will not "play like butter" for everyone.

It means the bass is unplayable for me. If it doesn't fight back a little bit, I want no part of it.

Did I accidentally post "insert tab A into slot B?"

I hate low action. Benefits? I can play my basses and not a single bass player has ever asked to borrow one of my axes.
