My '75 P. Non-original pickguard; and the thumb rest was moved to a tug bar position.

All in the family...

Blumpin' this to the top with a pic of our late '59 early '60 P. Bought new by my dad, this was his only bass for more than forty years. Helped put three kids through college. To him, it was and is still just a tool and gets played regularly. He says the knobs were on it when he bought it, FWIW. I think the store changed them out for some reason. All the screws were replaced with brass ones many years ago since he rusted them all out from sweat, and the finish has all been beaten off. Refretted four times, the last time by Mike Lull.

Just out of curiosity, does your '59 have a date on the neck and body? I heard some from early '59 didn't have any dates on the necks.

Not all original though. I switched the pickups not too long after I bought it.

I love this bass. I like how the front of the headstock has aged more than the neck.

Here's my refin '65 L-Series Precision. Originally was Dakota Red. Bridge, tuners, and pickguard aren't original. But those clay dot markers and the grey bobbin pickups? Yep.

Yes, the 59 has the date written in pencil on the neck and in the pickup cavity

the 59's here are gorgeous.
my high school jazz band bass was a 59 Precision, it used to just get lent out to whomever and passed around.
my final year in gr. 12 though, the instructor came to his senses and retired it. Diana Krall was one of the students.

Here's my recently refinished 1972 Jazz Bass.

This started as a Father's Day CL rescue of a "75 Fender Jazz Bass, $300" Rattlecan refinish with neck issues, but what the heck-love the neck. Get it home and the Neck Plate (371xxx) and pots 3047239 date it as a 1972.

Sent it to Darrell @ Guinn Guitars in Greer SC. The picture is from his facebook page: "1972 Fender jazz bass. It needed the body finished,(Came to me stripped of finish). Truss rod in neck was broken and had to be reset. Pickups were dead and I rewound them to 8k. Plays excellent and sounds good n punchy."

I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks Darrell!

It was my first 'real amp'. I haven't seen it for quite a while myself!

A 1969 Jazz which was gifted to me. Cleaned up by John Kallas since this pic.
