Post your vintage Japanese basses

Show your vintage Tokai, Kawai, Greco, Fernandes, Fender JV, Aria, Ibanez, Yamaha, etc... I just ordered this '75 Fernandes FPB70.

I was really wanting a vintage Fender "funk machine" but I couldn't afford the real deal.

Help me get stoked while I wait for this bass to sail across the Pacific!

its a bad pic and an old one... but its my ibanez 77' silver series jazz... its in my family since the beginning of the 80'... it used to be my uncles now i play it...

it sounds very different from any other jazz bass cuz it has a mahagony body and the neck dimensions are P bass

i have loads of other Japanese copy's at home all dating from 60' to early 80'. it is becoming some kind of any addiction... but i cant help it these strange basses have lots of character!!!

I have a few (well, HAD a few, just have the Tokai Jazz now). I have a few Arias but they've been posted many times in the Aria club thread.

Fernandes Master Hand (kind of an Alembic copy, the pickups were original but the electronics had been gutted at some point):

Damn!! All my bass pics are 800 pix wide or tall and 200k in size. When did the new tiny photo rule come along?? I was able to post them before You would think supporting members could post normal size photos. I guess the economy is hitting everyone

Anyway........

I have a Matsumoku era Aria "Primary Bass"

An Electra Phoenix, double P pups, original preamp, etc.

Ibanex Axstar

Hondo Fame B bass, Japan or Korea

^ I like the checking on that penco.

I don't own a vintage japanese bass, but do have a Fernandes MIJ jazz and precision from the early 90's. There old but not vintage and are good quality basses for sure. Im on the look out for a nice vintage Tokai, Fernandes, or Greko though.

Hey Lame Thrower did you buy that from the bay because I recently saw on on there with the spaghetti noodle logo like yours.
Nice btw!

I sure did. The seller's photo sets of instruments he's sold on his website is hours of fun for JV enthusiasts. www.music-trade.co.jp/jvbassstock.html

I don't think it was a real smokin' deal or anything, but I'm hoping a fair price for a quality instrument.

Lots of cool pictures ITT. I like how unique and funky these basses can be.

I have an early 90's heartfield. I consider it old, but not vintiage yet.

Lot's of cool basses. I'm a big fan of the Holy Crap Epi and that seafoam Soundgear. I'm jealous of amimbari's Charvel collection as well. Thanks guys.

Time to bump this one up a bit - so many lovely basses here and I'd like to see some more

I also have a thing for those vintage Japanese basses, I have one, a Tokai Hard Puncher ltd. edition from 1982.
