That telecaster tone is wonderful. One of my favorite tones from an instrument,

I own an SX Ursa. The gears in the tuning keys stripped and needed replaced, and the truss rod stripped the first time I did any adjustments(with a correct key, mind you).

Replaced the neck with another from Rondo, new tuning keys and some SD basslines. Sounds a lot better now than before. And better than a few $500 guitars at GC I've played.

Yeah, once you've got a good one and they're set up just right they outshine a lot of stuff. It really makes me wonder if I'm going to need something "better".

Yeah, if you buy one, be sure to mod it, or at least be ready to mod it.

The only things original on mine are the body, bridge, tone knob, pick guard and input jack haha.

The only thing I think most players should assume they'd need to replace is the bridge. It's an okay bridge but there are no tracks for the adjustment screws to sit in so there's a possibility that the saddles will move around while you're playing. Other than that you really need to see when it arrives. I've replaced the pickups in one with Dimarzio's and the sound difference wasn't enough to warrant the $100 I spent. I've heard of people having lousy tuners, but the tuners work just fine on every SX I've bought. The only things I do when I order a new SX is to buy a replacement bridge and some strap lock buttons.

Gotcha. The tone from the actual telecaster. I thought he was describing a bass tone.

I've got an SX P/J ash body jazz with the older head. I forget which model, my brother gave it to me after I sold my G&L. I put in some Duncan Quarter Pounders and new tuners. Next up is a bridge and electronics. Maybe a coat of paint.

I'm really happy with this bass, and after a few more mods I think it's going to be a good one.

That's the thing with SX basses. Sometimes you get the Bear and sometimes the Bear gets you!

But when you get the bear, it can be really sweet for very little coin!

Hit the nail on the head with that one. I own 5 instruments from them, a classical, acoustic, two electrics and my bass.(guitarist turned bassist and loving it ). I've only had problems on the acoustic and the bass. Their Agile Les Paul copies are amazing though.

The J pickup route in my new PJ Ursa looks like it was done with a grenade, the frets are awful, and the binding is ugly, but it sounds great.

That's the "road wornout" version.

Hey I've had my eye on those 32" Scale SX Jazzers . Anyone have one ? I think they are around $ 120 which I dont think I could beat as a 32" scale experiment.

Their neck pocket it a little big, sometimes as much as an 1/8th IME.

I wanted to install surface to air missiles on it and use the red switch for that. Could not find any on ebay, so its just an on/off to the jack. Instructions will need to point that out as I often forget to flip it on and wonder what the heck is wrong.

Extra set of custom backplates arrived from Axetreme Creations last night. Here's rear view of both. I think this is the last of the pictures.
