What are the models of your Fender P-basses and their the differing distances? (I need to add those measurements to my database)
I have 3 Fenders with split pickups - '84 P Elite II, '00 P Special Deluxe, and '04 Dimension. They are all 11 1/8" to the center of the EA pickup from the peak of the 12th fret. My Elite also has a second pair of split pickups that are 15 1/2".

I like it. The only thing I'd do differently is make the P pickup reverse.

Isn't the normal P bass a 22 fret and the Ray 5 a 24? My P deluxe is a 24 and I can get you the measurements because I believe you have a longer neck than the standard P bass.

Then the Ray 5 has 22 frets. Doesn't that mean that the scale will be far different? (for both the body and pickup locations)

Scale is not affected by how many frets, its the size of the fret spaces that changes scale. (And the distance between nut and bridge. )

Of I were Op I would decide about where I think the pup would look good then ring the harmonics to dial in the exact location and mark it on tape on the body.

Cool, thanks. What did you use to measure the distance?

it's a 34" scale..

the PBass pickup placement is under the 2nd harmonic node with the split being directly under the node itself..

measure the distance from nut to 12th (17 inches).. this distance should be the same from the 5th fret to the 2nd harmonic node..
