Question on Placement of Truss Rod Adjustment.
I apologize if this has already been addressed, I did a search but didn't come up with anything. Anyway, I've had a few people I know who are knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of guitars and basses tell me that the placement of the truss rod adjustment near the body on bolt on necks is usually indicative of higher quality instruments and the adjustment at the headstock is usually found on other than high end instruments. Others I've spoken to have said that's nonsense. I personally prefer the adjuster near the body, and it does seem that USA Fenders, Music Man and other makes of higher end guitars and basses have it in this location, while MIM Fender and other mid to lower end instruments have it at the headstock (with some exceptions like Carvin). Is this true as a rule or does it not matter where the adjuster is located as far as quality level is concerned?
"Oh you're the bass player? Which one is that?"
