Is this for real? 75 NOS P Bass

This seems fake to me. Something about it doesn't look right.

Thoughts?

I think the biggest flag for me is the price -- it's just too low.

found this bass listed on another site for sale... says the SN is 635549. I think that would put it at 1976?

If it's too good to be true, it usually isn't.

The tone pot has a 137-77 stamp. So 1977.

funnyfingers, if you check completed sales on eBay, you'll find that the value alleged in the post you linked to is considerably lower than the sales prices of clean '75 Ps at the moment.

Does this kind of look like a Chicago Music Exchange pic?

He wants cash only though...

Also regarding the serial numbers, Fender says there is overlap in years because of the modular construction.

I just don't think it is out of the question.

If you saw it in person what could you do to be completely sure. As the pots have that marker as someone says, a lot of stuff matches up...

Not a bad price but its to clean. How much does it cost to have someone "relic" a bass.

If that pot is really dated 77, there's no way in $%* it could be a clean, 100% original 75! The pots weren't even MADE yet, much less have been sitting around @ Fender long enough to be from the "bottom of the box!"
