Is this a real Gibson Les Paul?

Is this a real Gibson Les Paul?
Deal seems too good to believe and the dot markers just don't look like other ones I've seen.

No.

Two reasons: not a bridge used in the early 90's when the Les Paul basses looked like that. Also, not the correct pickups used by Gibson at that time, they were either Barts or the black Thunderbird pickups. No gold markings on those pickups back then. Also, not the correct headstock shape either.

There are so many counterfeit Les Pauls out there, both guitars & basses. One has to be very careful buying used Les Pauls.

The "Les Paul" script on the headstock is a dead giveaway.

Basses can be refretted, pickups and bridges changed, etc.... But the headstock is also wrong... And the entire bass just looks "different".

It astounds me that anyone would bother to bootleg a Les Paul bass

That headstock shape is a dead giveaway; the top of it should look exactly like an open book...

+1. If this bass is real, it is a $600-900 bass tops. A mint guitar-looking Standard (bindings, carved top, etc) might go for just over a grand.

Yeah I just saw that on Kijiji today myselfand was wondering the same thing... Doesn't seem right from the other Les Paul's I've looked at and of course the price is too good to be true.
