Reasons for not being able to play bass when you want to...

My missus thought it would be a good idea to put my 5 year old daughter's elf on the shelf on my bass. Now I can't move the flippin elf as my daughter will be devastated because, in her words, he'll "lose his powers if I touch him".

Obviously she's right, just like you will lose your bass powers if you don't touch a bass for a time...

Babysitting my 6 week old daughter as I opted NOT to do the Christmas grocery shop and get last minute gifts for my boys.

Hard to pick up a bass when entertaining a baby!

Well. since your missus got you into this mess, maybe she should step up and keep your daughter busy so you can get some play time. Seems only fair.

I agree with your daughter. The wife, however, would be getting The Look (TM).

It's like ripping off a band aid. Remove elf immediately. Wife and child will get over it.

I'm down with the Elf on the Shelf in our household. According to the book, it shows up in a different spot each morning.

So tomorrow, the elf shows up on the missus' purse. Two can play this game...

My twins have really strained my practice time. If I plug in they go nuts! It's fun and disturbing all in one.
I can practice unplugged but after 12 hour workdays I seldom have the energy

That's funny (the kids bit I mean). If I practice when SpongeBob is on, I'm mincemeat. It goes nuclear!

Clearly the Barrett ladies are subtly indicating you should buy another bass of your choosing.

"lose his powers if I touch him" is girl speak for "Daddy please go and buy a new bass"
