Recognize this bass?

Screen shots capture from "Seeking Justice".

A J-body with an interesting headstock. Any ideas? Cheers ~Mykk

Almost looks like an ATK headstock.

I suspect it's just a Jazz copy body with some indeterminable neck bolted on. A Fender headstock couldn't be mutilated in quite that way; also, there seems to be a large trough for the truss rod adjustment.

I think the pickguard goes up too far on the left side of the heel to be a Sandberg. Usually the 4 dot logo would be placed there.

It's a Kona "KEJBN". I saw one listed on CL a few weeks ago. I blanked on the brand name, but checked Ebay, in the Bass Guitar brand selection box, and quickly recalled it. As you can see, the headstock in the screen cap match the Ebay photos. It's another Chinese-made pseudo-copy (I say pseudo- because the headstock is different). EDIT: Slighty off-topic, but you can also see some of their pricier basses, which to me are resemble blatant Warwick ripoffs.

They pay these actors millions, but can't spend more than two bills on the bass in the background?

Either that or its a black plastic cover for the trussrod nut. My old Peavey's have 'em and from a distance it can look like there's a canyon to get to the adjustment nut.

Naw, many times such instruments are just props, unless the actors are actually using them! Think that's bad? It appears that the mandolin next to the bass (barely visible) is also a Kona...check it!

It looks like a newer Samick Jazz copy. The Greg Bennet style logo & headstock.

I decided to give one a try. KEJBBK. It was cheap enough and I wanted a beater. It arrived and I spent the morning setting it up. Plugged it in, not bad. It's a bright sounding bass for sure. I wired the pups in series and added .1 cap. Sounds pretty good, chunky. The neck feels like an intro level Ibanez Sound Gear. My headstock came natural wood, so I painted it and decided to flip the tuners and a black PG should be here soon. It is definitely a cheap bass, so take it for what it is.

I can't bring myself to put any more cash into it (for now), but perhaps a pickup and bridge upgrade will be in it's future.
