Reverend Brad Houser 5

Last thread I could find on these was dated 2009, so,
just a new one to show support for a rare, cool bass. Only 79 were made.

I've had three of these, and they're neat, and unique.
Semi hollow body, mahogany core with a steel sustain bar in the middle of that.
Double J pups, coil tap for each one that give you single coil, dual parallel, dual series.

Big fat, supportive, organic tone.

I had a Brad Houser Rev, too, in that crazy swirly finish and I loved it. BIG tone. FAT tone. A wonderful bass.

A fellow I knew from another bass forum bugged the crap out of me to sell it to him. (I found it on eBay with a BIN of 700.) He really needed it. It was killing him. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, he emailed me once a week for months.

So finally I thought "WTH" and sold it to him for what I paid because what else do you do?

A year later, he asked me if I'd be interested in having it back. Well, YEAH.

He said, "How about a thousand?"

I can't tell you how angry I was about that price bump.

I told him to keep it.

(In retrospect, I should have given him the 1K but it just got under my skin.)

Man, I'm an idiot.

The plot thickens! Always have wanted to own/try one of these basses. I like big, and I really like fat. It should work out for me famously.

@ ElMon

They are that.
Thru the M9/MBFusion, I can add enough sheen to keep me happy,
while maintaining a Great Huge Organic Presence That Cain't Be beat with A Stick.

Now I'll have another helping of depression.

In any case, you certainly know what a great bass I had.

*sniff*

I do have a Fish 5L on hand, though, so all is not lost.

But still.

I traded my BH5 away...it was an ultra rare, Space Race Silver, (1 of only 3 & the only one with a black, phenolic back). Easily, one of the best/coolest instruments I've owned...Why did I trade it, anyway?

On a more positive note (at least from my POV), I am back in the Fish club as of last night with the arrival of a black 5L with maple board.

Gotta fool with it tonight over martinis.

Yeah they're unique on many levels, all of them good. I've GAS'd away quite a few basses that I should have kept, but this one has bookoo staying power. It aint goin' nowhere soon.

Here's mine

Anyone remember the Engine Turned BH5 that went unsold on ebay? He had a BIN of $650....no takers. Relisted it at $600...no takers. Pretty sure it'd sell today, and not for $650!

I love my BH5. I broke it out the other day for the first time in ages. It rocked.
