The neck is certainly unique, but I've always liked them, in their various forms. I have issues with playing certain basses and I find the meatier necks are way more comfortable for me.
You know what you could do is try to find a 90's Ric. I had one made in 92' and the neck was incredible on it. Slimmer shaping made it extremely comfortable. I can't guarantee they are all like this, but they seem to go through phases. |

I am not usually fond of heftier necks (I'm mostly a Jazz Bass guy). But this neck feels comfortable to me.
I'm done trying to understand what my left hand wants.

I just plugged it in and went through the motions. The bridge pickup sounds very weak and thin compared to the neck pickup, even with the push/pull switch. Heck, it doesn't seem to make any difference in tone at all. I'm thinking it's been modded back to the old style specs.
Does anybody have the wiring diagram for the push/pull switch? I want to see if it's wired correctly...

The bridge pu on my 4003 sounds full enough that I solo that pu and don't use the neck pu. |

The modern tone is fuller, more lows and low mids, the vintage tone is this aggressive bark of the high mids. Actually on my 4003 I need to put the bridge pup volume on 75% to match the neck pup. |

This is because the magnet is bigger on the bridge pickup.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Someone in Cincy should try to see it in person to see if it really exists.

I guess we could speculate...or I could contact the guy and see... |

So what would such a bass be worth? (I'm not in the market, just curious.)
