If I were to join a jazz band, I'd use a Rickenbacker and set it to neck pickup only. |

Both of mine have toasters in them... which is fine to my ears for jazz too.

Rick's have so many tones when you play around with them. |

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

It seems that the list may not be that updated? Does anyone know of any dealers I can check out that have new Rics shipped in?

My go to bass for the last 4 years has been a modded MM Fender Jazz IV. I bought it for the feel of the neck, added DP123's TI flats and a J-retro pre. I've always been a Fender guy. But I have to say. This Ric is pretty darn sweet. Great sustain. The versatility in tone is amazing. I am not experiencing the "hum" with different volume setting with the neck and bridge pickups. It's actually very quiet. The neck is also very comfortable. In fact I like it more than my Fender Jazz's from the 7th fret up. It's was strung with roto 77's when I got it. I was thinking about getting a set of TI flats for it. But I'm keeping rounds on it after last night. So I guess what I'm saying is I love this Ric. A bit of tweeking and it'll be perfect. I'll have to post a pic of it one of these days. After 40 some years of playing. I'm glad I finally added a Ric to the herd.

| | | | The singer from my old band's pa had a Ric that he let me play a couple times. Holy cow did I fall in love. I keep hoping that one day I'll be able to justify the cost. |
