I kind of do like the black on natural look and have thought about that, but not sure what it would look like with the white truss rod cover.

If you want one, just make the decision to do what it takes to get one.
The sooner you do it, the sooner you'll have it and you'll have more time to enjoying playing it.
Life is short, enjoy it when you can.

Did anyone has seen this cracked finish like these?
I have noticed some Ric with marks on the gloss, but not in this way... |

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

I thought about the temperature change, but didn't believe it would happen with a '91... |

Just no volume from it. Not entirely sure what to do, being in Ireland. Guess just order a replacement

You should have heard it. LOL I liked the contrast of the black and chrome mix. Did I mention the neck pup was a '73 higain?

Of course or shell I say obviously the old Ric's handled this issue well so. But I'll guess the 4003 is "stronger" | coming a little late to the game here, but about 6 months ago I had my 4003 (1984) routed for 1/2" spacing on the neck p'up. So far there has been no noticeable loss of fidelity on the part of the bass. It has the old truss rods, and possibly worse, they're adjusted at the body-end of the neck. But all is good, the neck is still straight as an arrow, and the move really does make a noticeable difference in tone (for the better, IMHO).

I can finally join in here as, after a lot of searching, i tracked down a ricky in a store about an hour and a half drive away. Quite happy with the unusual 'Walnutburst' finish:
