I've recently played one for my second time in the past six years at a Sam ash store in my town. The thing was awesome! Course theres also the rickenfakers. I get they are a clones but I've never really heard about them.
For any rickenbacker and/or rickenfaker owners out there what pros and cons to the faker to the backer? And if you own a faker post a pick please.

i added a Ric tone switch kit and now get the vintage/ modern sound at the pull of a switch.
Living in the UK means picking up a new Rockinbetter is easy as it in in Australia but its called a Reblerocker over there. really hard to get them in the USA.
the older Japanese made copys are getting much harder to find now and most people that have them hang onto them, are even harder to find outside the Uk.

look at the bottom of the page for Reblerocker to see the three they import. they do import other instuments but only Tokia electric guitars. http://www.tokaiguitarsaustralia.com.au/INDEX.html

The Ibanez copies are collectible by themselves now, and people don't like to part with them anymore. The Chinese ones are basically expensive Chinese basses. Why pay several hundred dollars for a Chinese bass when you can get one for half as much from Rondo? But I'd be interested in a used one as long as it's at a used price.

are the Chinese basses expensive!!!! where can you get a thru neck for under £500. also the pick-ups in the Rockinbetter/Rebelrockers are really very good and high output, (12.5ohm).
Rondo do make good cheep basses but the all sound like fenders apart from there douglas basses.
not seen a Rondo thru-neck!!!!
with the Rockinbetter/Rebelrockers you get a bass that looks like a 4003 and sounds like one too.
if you ever get a chance to play one you will see that there well made thro-neck basses and on par for price of most thru-neck basses of the same quality. i have been playing bass since 1968 and i know a good bass when i play one and the Rockinbetter is a well made bass and should be judged as a Rockinbetter and not just a ric clone.
