So the Highway One P bass arrived from the Hello Music (no affiliation) blowout.
The writing on the box is baffling. When I first saw it I about wet my pants thinking that RW meant Road Worn.
Any idea what the heck Upgrd RW means ? I can't cough this furball up. Picture for reference. |

Reverse Wound fits too.
Should I start a poll ? |

MN = Maple fretboard
It's used on both Fenders and Squiers. Most shops here use that description on all Fender/Squiers.
The real question is what "upgrd" means. What did they upgrade...? |

The real question is what "upgrd" means. What did they upgrade...? | I have no idea what was upgraded. It looks like the other Hwy Ones that I have seen. This is 2011. 60th anniversery plate on the back. BA II bridge. Black Nitro Finish. Nothing out of the ordinary.
There must be 600 hang tags on the thing. I'm at work so I'll read through all of them when I get home to see if they offer any hints.
There was a time when I swore that I would never own a P type bass in any capacity. What just happened? Double dang Hello for hawking their tawdry bass wares. |

I know what you mean about not wanting a P. I never even wanted a Fender at first.
The same with cars. After my first car i swore that I'd NEVER buy a German car again. As it turns out, all my cars since have been german.
Oh, and make sure you post pics when you get it unpacked. |

I imagine there was a time around the change over from 1 to ONE ('06) that they had both in stock perhaps, and that was just the labelling they started then .... the Hwy ONE series would be considered 'upgraded' ... especially with their writing Hwy 1 on the box
yes, the RW would be rosewood board ... it only adds to confusion though, see below
They do need a better warehouse manager ... with all the conflicting abreviations Fender uses ... a box with a label of Hwy ONE P FL BLK would be less confusing, as they never offered a Hwy Series bass with a maple neck the RW is not needed, and the P would be enough to signify it is a bass ... in fact the FL may not even need to be there, as they dont offer it in any other finish of black ... JMHO

Makaspar, you may be on to something. The UPGRD may have been the 100.00 instant rebate they gave.
I may have to call just so we know. I suspect that customer service will have no earthly idea.

Forgive the stickers. I am yanking the pickguard, pick ups and GB in order to throw after market stuff in, if I can ever make up my mind what I want. Figured that I would just put the whole thing in a ziplock so I can swap back to bone stock should I ever want to sell it. Also need to get the Franken Jazz completed first.
Here are the pics:
Normal gig bag.
Body wrapped in tissue paper. White specs are tissue dust.
The set-up monkeys need to get off the junk.
And a new family photo sans the Franken Jazz that is pulled apart and off to Pat Wilkins. Talk about covering the tone spectrum.
Bottom line, I don;t see anything upgraded. Maybe the tape on the box? |

I want to work in shipping somewhere so I can just write things on a box like Ltd, Dlxe, Cstm, Proto. It would surely drive people nuts. rofl.
Sincerest thanks to everyone.......especially those that brought the comedic relief! Sorry I wasted a small part of everyone's life. |

| | | | The sticker explains it. Improved gra[hite rods for stability. Improved Satin nitro finish. Baddass bridge added. As I remember those points where advertised for hwy1 as part of the improvements of it over other P basses if the time.

Congrats. Precisions are so nice.
