I have a violin bass from them. It's
actually a really good player. Don't
get me wrong it needed a set up and
all bot it's a player for sure

After playing mine A friend bought one
and gigs with his all the time.

It is definitely better quality than an SX.

I've owned a 5 string that actually played like a dream, but the electronics were garbage and just bought the fretless which is currently in pieces so that I can refinish and mod out a bit. All in all I've heard a lot of horror stories about them, but even more good ones.

I think they're pretty decent for the price. A good friend who plays 100+ gigs a year uses a $79 Rogue one or two sets per night to give his back a rest from his Fender Jazz. I don't know that anyone in the audience knows the difference.

I played a Rogue bass once. It was one of the cheapest crappiest basses I ever played.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Eight years ago, after a 25 year hiatus from music, I got the bug and bought a Vinci branded bass from Sears for $118, it was identical to the lowest end Rogue. I wish I had found TB before that purchase, I would have went with an SX. I would advise staying away from all those entry-entry level instruments.

I think it depends on your reference point. My first bass was a $79 Kent P-Bass knock off I purchased in 1964. Junk. Many, many years later I purchased a Rogue for $79. For the same price (and if I took into account inflation it would have been $7.90 versus the Kent) it was 10x better.

For whatever it's worth, I have 2 Rogue 405 pro's, I used to have a 205, had two early VB100's, 10 years, I have a current VB100,which is fully hollow and is really well done and just as good as my Hofner Ignition Club. All of these have been great players and none have been sub-par.

Rogue is the house brand at MF and I've seen them at another, I think Music 123. (may be also owned by MF) MF is home based at Medford OR, hence 'Rogue River'.

I play a Rogue series II LX200B that I bought second hand. It was in great condition whe I got it and still looks and plays great today. I love this thing. It gives me everything I need in a bass and a huge scale too. I don't see why people hate on Rogue.

I was given a Rogue (sunburst) bass by my parents when I was 14. Played it for 2 years before I moved on up (sorta) to an early 90's Washburn LYON's bass. It wasn't too bad for a starter bass, but I'd never go back to them. I picked up a newer one in a store a few years back and it felt like I was holding a toy....bad mojo, put it down and washed my hands right after...just felt wrong, nothing like the one I had when I was a kid.
