Anyone owned the Roxy B5 from Human Base for a while now? Checked out Ed Friedland's great review and it sounds killer. Any experience with this ax?

I had one, sold it about a month ago. It's a great bass. Ed's review is spot on. The playability and quality were superb. It was light and had a great neck. The different sounds you could get out of the one pickup were pleasantly surprising. Overall, one of the best basses I have owned. I needed a more traditional looking headstock so I ended up with one of the new Reverends. If I had any complaint about the Roxy, it would be that it was modern sounding, I put a set of tapewounds on it and it calmed it down rather nicely with some detailed thump. I hope this helps. Best,
E

Hey thanks a lot. I'm not very familiar with basses that use only one pickup. Can you get the Jaco sound out of it if you play closer to the bridge, or does the lack of pickup there make it impossible? Also can it get anywhere near a round pbass sound? Maybe not Pbass, but at least full and round?

The eq on it is very impressive. When you play up near the board it is warmer and more open than it is when over the pu. Ed's review is really the best example of the sounds that it produces. Put on some good headphones and give it a listen and you will be able to hear an accurate example of the sound that it produces.
