RUMORS ARE TRUE: Warwick Steve Bailey Signature

Sign in to disble this ad

Fretless bassist Steve Bailey has joined up with Warwick as an endorsing artist, and the company has just unveiled a new Steve Bailey Signature Bass. The model is a six-string fretless based on their Streamer, though the design has been modified for better access to the upper register of the neck.

The Steve Bailey Signature bass features bolt-on construction and a 34” scale. The swamp ash body is matched with an ovangkol neck that has a signature asymmetrical profile, topped with a snakewood fingerboard.

A pair Seymour Duncan active Soapbar pickups are coupled with Bailey’s signature Seymour Duncan active 2-way electronics. The bass is rounded out visually with a black high polish finish with a polished stainless steel pickguard.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced. For more, visit Warwick’s website.

EDIT: So my first impressions (strictly on the looks ONLY of this bass) weren't very great. I dig the colors and the pg, just not much of a streamer fan. However, after reading the thread I must have missed this morning regarding the conversion to Warwick, I couldn't be happier for Steve. Congrats on what seems to be his 3rd marketed signature bass. Let the discussion begin!

I think it looks great with the pickguard and probably plays and sounds utterly awesome. The pickguard gives a cool "vintage" look to a totally modern instrument

Steve is around and occasionally posts...so maybe he'll drop by and say a few words about it.

I think Fender is in a great deal of financial trouble, personally. Nothing scientific, just a feeling I have.

Warwick probably offered him a better deal and a better bass.

Cheers,
Cameron

I like the look.

One question... why a "mirror" pickguard? Makes me think of bad 80's metal bands. If they sold it with a tortoise guard or white pearl/abalone style of some sort I would be 100% about the look. It would definitely fit in at a biker bar as it is, though.

They should include a small bottle of glass cleaner for the constant fingerprint wiping we'd be doing.

Hence the quotes around "mirror". We should start a poll whether or not the mirror pg is/was a good idea...

Drop in on the other thread and ask Steve, since it was probably his idea.

I would guess that if you didn't like the pickguard, but you liked the bass, you could remove it or have a replacement made.

Lol it reminds me of a fretless six string Warwick Geddy Lee with that white pickguard.

Funny, because I was thinking, "now here is a Warwick that actually looks good". Which is a thought I've never had before.
