Sad for my old Jbass

Sign in to disble this ad
So i have been playing my Lakland 5 strings Osborne for about 3 years. I need the 5 strings for both the projects im working on.

I just nailled a Cat Empire tribute gig and i figured ill be able to play my 76 Jbass again...

Wrong!!

No matter hard i try, i always come back to the Lakland... The tone, the tighness of the sound, the action of the Jbass, its not even close to the Lakland. Not to mention the scale ...

Im sad

Maybee its time to sell it for a brutal amount of money...

Think twice! If you have a bass you love and there is no actual need to sell the J, just slide it under the bed. Someday you'll be very glad it's there, guaranteed.

Yup, if you have zero use for it, may as well get some cold hard cash for the thing! Unless you want to hold onto it for its collectors value. But I'd take the money and buy a new amp or cabinet. Congrats on the new gig!

You believe the 76 should be a good bass but you know the Lakland is a good bass.

Cash it in, I say.

Cat Empire is a popular enough group to actually have a tribute band? I saw them this past summer at a folk festival and loved them. Just didn't realize they were that popular I guess. Congrats on the gig!

I'm in total agreement here.

I'm sorry I sold my old J Bass. It was the first real bass I owned, I used it in the first real gigs I ever had, and so now even an equivalent J Bass could not replace it. I'd just love to have it sitting in my closet.

Hey, Makaki, I am playing bass this weekend with the Cat Empire tribute band you will be playing with. Great bunch of people, you should have a great time! It is a really small world.

Enjoy!

Sometimes people get too focused on making every instrument play and sound perfect. Some times the idiosyncrasies in an old Fender make you play a little differently and keep things fresh. Those old basses are what they are. Don't try to make it something it ain't. just pull it out every once in a while and let it be it's self!
