Saddle position for 19mm string spacing on a Warwick bridge?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a new 4 string Warwick and I looked at the bridge and it had the 1st and 4th saddles moved to the farthest side of each, if that makes sense. I centered all of the saddles since I assumed that would be where they are supposed to be for an even 19mm spacing. Is this correct or is it at 19mm when they are maxed out?

Thanks

I like to put the two outer strings in proper alignment with the edge of the neck and then space the two center strings equally from the outer strings. The measurement of the strings spacing does not matter to me.

Eventually, but it's a real pain. I had to do it once with a different bass and couldn't get a very accurate reading.

???

what's hard about measuring the distances?

and... how do you expect to know you have 19mm (or 17 or 20 or whatever) if you don't measure it?

On mine, I didn't like the distance between strings, being slightly narrow... so I made them wider, to taste. The actual measurement is pretty irrelevant, isn't it?

But if you decided you want 19mm... then measure it! Not rocket science:
get the 2nd and 3rd saddles 19mm apart and centered evenly related to their polepieces... then do 1st and 4th strings 19mm apart.

It's hard for me to measure tenths of mm with a straight edge at an angle, sorry, guess I'm a little slow or somethin'

I know the Warwick is 19mm because the website says so. I'm just wondering if that's with everything centered OR with everything maxed out, as it was sent to me.

1/10th of a mm accuracy??
Yes, I'd have trouble to get to that level too!

I don't get what you're really trying to do. As I said, it isn't that hard... I'm not the most ingenious guy around, and I could manage just fine
The point of the Warwick bridge is that it's adjustable so it allows you to get the string widths *you feel* most comfortable with...

Anyway, I don't feel I can really help here beyond what I said earlier, so best of luck!
