Sadowsky Metreo PJ4 vs. PJ5 ???

Sign in to disble this ad

Hey guys,

I had a true WOW-experience during last Saturday’s gig... I had brought along a Sadowsky MV4-HPJ, and based on previous Sadowsky experiences, I did expect high quality, but I was not prepared for the punch this bass delivered. The bass just sounded extremely good!

Anyway, I play 5-string basses 90% of the time, so obviously, I have gained an interest in a MV5-PJ. So, do any of you guys have any first hand experience with both a 4-string Metro PJ AND a 5-string Metro PJ? Maybe even had a chance to A/B test?

My main concern is that I have read somewhere that the pickups are different on the 4 and 5-string models – Nordstrand on the 5 or something like that? I know that difference may be quite subtle, but then again, it is the subtle nuances that make all the difference when it comes to sitting comfortably in the mix, IMO/IME. That's why I am curious to hear from anyone with first hand experiences...

My #1 is a PJ4 and I love the tones I get, but I'm also curious about differences with the 5-string Nordstrand made pickups so ...bump.

sorry, i can´t tell you anything about the 4-string model but you already have played it yourself. i own a rv5-pj (olympic white/tort) and it is unbelievable. extreme punchy and clear. it sounds much more modern than a classic p-bass though but in passive mode and the vtc at ca. 50% you almost have it. it sounds very good in the mix.

quality and playability of mine is of the highest quality as always, mine is just a little bit heavy (about 4.4kg) but not a problem with a wide cort.
