Hello all,

Noob here. I just picked up this SVA 6 for a song and would like to know more about it. Anyone out there know what the dealer list was on these new? Just wondering if it was really a deal or not. Thanks.

According to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars, those listed for $1500 and up, depending on the exact model.

Never seen that one
However, I remember the Samick Valley Arts basses came out, must have been in the early to mid 90s. I was quite impressed with the 5-stringer, but it was the usual "early 5-string" problems with narrow spacing and slightly floppy B-string. But it was nicely built and solid workmanship. Valley Arts were probably among the first high-end builders to have a Korean line like this, and they were pretty successful as far as I can recall.

Looks nice, and doesn't have to be a lot of bass for £175 to be worth the investment? :-) If the string spacing is narrow, you could always comfortable change that to a 5-stringer with a decent spacing :-)

Oh, the 4- and 5-stringer versions of these had PJ pickup configuration.

They were aquired by Gibson, and they still exist as a Gibson division. :-)

And the basses are still available, too :-)

I thought of converting it to a 5. The spacing is quite tight. I'll have to investigate the cost. Would be nice to have the wider spacing. Slapping is pretty tough on it as it is.

I've been sorely tempted by a USA Custom Pro 4 similar to the one posted above by MrWalker. Nice bass, but pricey.

Shouldn't be too costly, really. BAsically it involves getting a new nut fitted and a new bridge... Shouldn't be a problem getting a bridge that would fit the need.

The only problem could be if the pickups are "side-by-side" dual coils (so that the middle string would be in between the coils, hence producing a much lower output than the strings on the sides). But as long as they are single coils, you're fine. :-)
