Cort Introduces Sandberg Designed Arona Series Bass Guitars

this is interesting news. I like the idea of multilaminated necks and zero-frets. Bridges look good, too. Hope that those Delano-designed pickups will be nice.

I know, my feelings about Cort are ambivalent, too. But I really loved my GB94 and regret selling it.

don't know about the alder version, but my ash-bodied B4, GB75 and GB94 were very light and well balanced.

I don't like the design but I'm sure it will play and sound good. Cort makes good basses, Lakland Skylines and all...

Just ran across these. I've been checking out Sandbergs website and I think they have some cool designs and then I saw this. I could possibly afford one of these. Anyone played one yet? Any more opinions?

I'm interested as well, I mean, desigend by Sandberg + pickups designed by Delano + zero fret + cool design =
Googling this bass (the Arona 5-string), the only seller I found was a dealer in FL, they sell for $610, that's a very good price for this bass. Have you guys seen this some place else? Why doesn't MF have more Cort basses (aside from the hideous G. Simmons one)?

Cort Arona 5

EDIT: a few pics!

I happen to like my Gene Simmons Cort Bass and don't think it is hideous!!! Of course I have always liked different looking basses like the warlock, bitch and ect. So I suppose it is all in personal preferance Of course I love my jazz bass too.

Cort manufactures basses for a lot of other companies (my understanding), so these could be good basses. Just depends on the effort they put into it. I am interested in it, though it would be towards the bottom of my GAS list at the moment. One I am saving up for now is a USA Cirrus.

These look pretty cool, I'd check one out once NY stores start stocking them.

They really should've tuned the bass doing the demo though, it's definitely off from the background music...

Is that Thomas Haden Church doing the narration of the Cort demo video?

yeah, totally agree. I guess they tried to focus on the story behind the bass than the bass itself.

Can anyone experienced with Sandberg basses comment on how chunky their C-shaped necks? This and the pickups are the only questions marks I have about this bass.

Now that diff has got my attention. Pups designed by delano, nice shape, active eq, zero fret, good price. More the type of base sound I was hoping for with the traben attack array I had for awhile. Arona 4

Do I want to go ahead and plan to get a 2nd bass again? Hum.

Yes it would have been nice to have an extra minute or two of video for player to show off pup blending and bass/treble control use for tone tweaking. But the crusing voice of the vid is quite good, maybe a touch of treble or bridge pup tilt for little more growl and grind. As a alternate more lead like voicing choice.

Wonder how long before cort dealers like amazon.com & MF carry them? Thatd make GC as local place that might carry them for trying out and checking fretwork etc in person.

Hey its all cool my bass bro! It is good that we all have differnet taste in gear or the bass equipement world as well as life would be boring By the way I like old school too (I have a Jazz), just like to mix it up a little

I am curious though about this bass!!

Looking at the link. Down at the bottom in the related artical. I wonder who the pretty blond with the tattoo that is working on the frets.

twiddles thumbs, looks like they may be available in europe now, from browsing around and looking for them. But not yet in america yet. Sometimes we get great stuff after others get it first. Lol. I really like how the side view of the open pore brown burst looks in pic above. I wonder if the black version will show grain like that to. If the 4string has streetprice of $600 or under Id diff want to check them out and prob get if passes inspection and test drive.

Check my post above, I think it's available here in the US, there is one dealer in FL that sells them. IIRC, Cort was never widely sold online, maybe try ebay for local dealers.

As for the black finish, no it doesn't show the wood. It's even made with alder, while the one in the pic above is swamp ash.

Ah, Ok, Ash would be my pick for wood, the brown burst does look better then most such bursts Ive seen to. I do hope more places start carrying them. Is odd that mf etc only do the gene simmons bass instead of the whole line of cort basses.
