Saving a DISASTER

Well I took a el cheapo Crescent bass with the idea of making a unique looking bass....

I thought "Hey since I painted my Valiant with a foam roller this will be a piece of cake."
...Yeah totally jynxed myself...

This is what it originally looked like:

Then came the awful decision to get KRYLON paint...I should've known better since the paint flow came out as spittle and this was the result:

z

I then tried to save face by painting the body purple...And I noticed the Krylon paint wasn't fully drying even if I left it for over 72 hours...

After destroying my garage in rage, I took a 3 week hiatus from this disaster.

I then said "I'll just take it down to the original paint and make it easy by using Carburetor cleaner." After doing this, I sanded the clear coat off and started priming and then it hit me... "I should leave the body gray and paint the headstock and pickguard purple with gray knobs."

This was the result:

I have to admit I love the colour and the fact I put a fender bridge, pickups and a new neck...But this bass is WAY too heavy for me so I'll be selling it ASAP since I need moolah so badly..
But what do you guys think about the paint job? I don't mind honesty either.

Good recovery, yeah, projects have a way of spiraling out of control. I nearly had a disaster of a similar scale myself.

Lessons I've learnt is:
A) Make sure the bare body is thoroughly thoroughly dry. Break out the heat gun again to make sure.
B) Make sure each coat of paint has ample time to cure. I am leaning towards 4 days+.

Hopefully my next little project is less of a disaster. Good luck selling this, better photo would be nice to see how well you've salvaged it.

lmao, foam roll on brush to paint bass sounds like the best deal you had out of the lot. lol.

I liked it better in 2tone green burst with the green knobs. If youd done the reverse, gone from the grey to that itd of been really kewl save imo. But doesnt look bad in the new grey, just saying youd prob get more for it in selling as it was.

Hopes your next project goes better.
