So - a little background - while I'm a doubler today who plays both upright and a nice mix of bass guitars, my *original* bass from like age 13 through 21 was a '65 Hagstrom. It looked like the red one here:
Early HAGSTROM Bass rundown
(That site won't let you copy pics.) I haven't seen a Hagstrom in action since the early '70s, with me playing it, and the last few years I've been on the lookout for one just out of curiosity.
So Saturday night was a night with no gig, I went to a local bar with a friend who is also friends with the bass player who was playing at the bar, and just for conversation she says what kind of bass is that he's playing? So the hair starts to stand up on the back of my neck as I realize ... It's a mid-60s Hag! Got a good look at it and spoke to the bass player (nice guy I know a little) - he's had it all these years.
They were a guitar-bass duo doing '60s stuff and the Hagstrom sounded great.
Really brought back memories ... thanks for listening!
