Looks great!

As for suggestions, I've got a Dano 63 strung with D'Addario Chromes and am loving the tone, very punchy but still snarky. These are fun basses.

+1 on the chromes or Roto 77's. If you want real thump and just a little less twang try some Roto Tru-Bass I just put a set on my 63 and am loving them. Love that blue

Congrats on the Longhorn. I tried one out and I love how punchy the tone was.

My suggestion is just enjoy it! A couple of days ago I picked up this virtually unused DC Bass from someone who purchased it new in 2000 with the idea that she would learn to play bass, and then never did. I am so impressed with how nice this thing plays and sounds--and what a kick it is to play--that I just can't put it down. The funny thing is I use Chromes or tapewounds on all my other basses, but on this one I love the way these aged (and original, I'm guessing) roundwounds sound on it.

Oops. I'm sorry. I thought I was in the SMV thread.

Yeah, Danos suck. Dead thud. Hard to tune. Embarrassing to be on stage with.

My only complaint with them is the tuners. If you take your strings off a couple of times they brake where they go through the tuner. I have 2 sets of 77's that are junk because they broke there. You can't get fat strings through them ether. I put Gotoh mini tuners on mine, work great, look funny, like 4 Micky Mouse ears off the little coke bottle headstock.

There are 2 red DC's and one Sparkle on CL here, all for $250.00 + less. I am so temped

Congratulations on your longhorn. I miss mine almost enough to cry. I really liked the dano branded roundwounds on mine. That thing could sing.

Man, I'm glad you posted that.

I just tweaked the truss a bit and installed a set of half rounds.

Hollly mooooly....it kicked my tail. I don't even know how to play or string a six string, so these little tuners and the hole'ed posts put a whippin' on me.

I still have the extra string length dangling from the headstock and might leave 'em.

Friend of mine told me used them to annoy drunks who danced too close to the stage. He tickled with them, and they never knew what they were but waved wildly like they were keeping a wasp away from their face!

Can anyone post a pic of a Dano with Gotoh mini's?

Factory "Pro" Tuners

These are the factory Dano Pro tuners. I'm sure you can find something like them. They may be mini bass tuners with guitar "knobs" on the end.

Thanks!

Ok, who can tell me for certain which tuners will fit the Dano Longhorn?

I need to swap these plastic cheapo's asap.

And I'd rather not drill larger holes in the headstock?

Bueller??

(yes, I've searched)

Here is mine with the Gotoh Mini (?) I like the smaller ones better. Did you have to open the holes up?

I never found any that would drop in. I looked for over a year then bit the bullet and pot the mini's in. You need to open the hole up a lot.
