Schecter 004 modding help?

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay, so I've been having some seriously bad luck with my Schecter 004. The preamp blew within a couple of months of me having it. I replaced the two band EQ with a 3 band EQ (stacked bass/treble knob). It blew recently! I've ordered a second preamp and am currently waiting for its arrival. I have had this bass for less than a year and already I've put more money into it than I think its worth. Anyway, I've never been completely happy with the tone. I like the look and feel a lot but the tone is not my favorite. I wasn't going for a Ric sound anyway. So, if I want to get more of a Musicman-ish tone, what are some good PUPs for it? I will be swicthing preamps and I figure since I'm repairing, I may as well mod, too.

I put EMG Hz in mine right before I sold it...I too put too much money in mine and was never really happy with its scooped and blurry tone.
Good luck.

Wouldn't active pickups be better for that "Musicman" sound?
