Hey all, I'm wanting to get a Schecter 5 string bass. I've looked at a couple of them and have played a new Stiletto Elite 5. I was wanting some input of what Schecter 5 string you like, and what makes it better. I was looking at the passive Raiden Elite, Stiletto Custom, and the Stiletto Elite. Alright, thanks for your input!

I have the Custom-5 now. I have had an Elite 5 in the past.

I prefer the Custom 5. The differences are that it is a bolt on, while the elite is neck-thru. The Elite will have better sustain because of this, but it felt like it weighed considerably more. I also prefer the satin finish on the back of the neck of the Custom, rather than the gloss paint on the Elite. The gloss paint gets very "sticky" feeling with sweat and a hot outdoor gig.

Just my 2 cents. Both are great basses though!

On my custom-5. I swapped out the EMG soapbars, for EMG Jazz pickups in the soapbar shape. I also changed the preamp to a BQC. I did all this just because I prefer the tone of the J's rather than the stock HZ's. It's all personal preference though. If you can get out and play the bass, I would suggest it. The EMG HZ's aren't for everyone.

The schecter raiden elite is active. even though it does have a set of EMG MM-Hz pick-ups. you must be thinking of the schecter raiden special. that bass is passive.

On the subject of what schecter 5-string bass I like, I like the schecter stiletto basses. these basses I like for their smooth curvacious bodies and the fact that it can provide smooth warm sounds. I own 2 schecter stiletto basses. I have a schecter stiletto elite 5-string bass(which I play in my band) and a schecter stiletto extreme 4-string bass(which I play in my brother's band). these basses are definitely my main bass guitars. I would recommend schecter basses anyday. if you're interested in buying any of the schecter basses that you're checking out, I'd say give them a shot. you'll be amazed by these bass guitars.

i have the stiletto elite-5 and the studio-5. i prefer the elite over the studio 5 just because the way it feels and sounds. the studio has a more middy tone while the elite has a fuller punch to it, IMHO/IME. that, and i think the elite looks pretty killer in that see-thru cherry finish.

Thanks guys for all the great comments! I have purchased a stiletto extreme5 trans black. and I must say, I am very pleased with this bass! It is very well made, the house pups sound awesome and the two-band EMG active bass and treble add tons of gain! The 6 bolt neck is taken right from the pages of G&L. Mahogany body w/ figured maple top with a maple neck! Great building materials, and upgradeable if I choose! I have falllen in love! BTW Sweetwater is where I bought this from! I think having the pictures of the actual guitar is awesome!
