Hey guys, Every time I go to Guitar center I fiddle Around with the basses and always see Schecter basses that are complete copies of other bass models, not only that they play no where near like the the original model. I want to like Schecter basses cause there reasonably a lot cheaper than most basses I'm looking at but it seems like everyone I pick up doesn't measure up. Did anyone else notice this?

A few bad parodies, yes...copies, no.

| | | | The model T is supposed to look like a '51 Precision and the model P looks like a deluxe precision, and there's one that looks like a les paul, whose name escapes me. And of course, a lot of them resemble ibanezes, but I don't really think they ever ouright copied anyone. Aside from the model P's and T's... dang... now I'm G.A.S.ing for a T again...

These aren't really copies...but as I said, parodies.
Schecter makes their own styles, too, of course. They're...OK.
But, yeah, I hate faked-up versions of other iconic basses, whether they're from Lakland, Sadowsky, Schecter, ESP, SX or anyone else.

Solid, good sound and great feel. Some people may not like the EMG HZ p-ups so much, but I dont mind em really. |

I love my Model T. The OP should try one out. They are a little hard to find though. You won't see them at Guitar Center. It's not surprising that the OP didn't like the ones at Guitar Center. Basses at GC are usually poorly set up and every 14 year old in town has banged on it. |

There's nothing really wrong with it and it doesn't appear to me to be a "copy" of anything else. I just find it aesthetically unappealing and don't like fives. Probably played it an hour or less.

I would like to know what bass this is a copy of
Most of the Schecters ive seen are $500+ and I wouldnt exactly consider that cheap.
What basses resemble others:
Raiden
Diamond P
Model T
Stargazer
Ultra
Solo
Just because it looks like something else doesnt mean its any worse or its supposed to play the same...

| | | | i enjoyed my elite-4 when i had one, and it certainly wasn't a copy of anything (enlighten me if i'm wrong, i'd be interested). it played really well especially for the price range. *regret selling*

as far as the "copying" goes, you've got the model T,the diamond p and j, the stargazer and whatever les paul looking bass they have. that's it. everything else is completely original, and look if anything like spectors (and that's just barely..seriously)

I would like to know what bass this is a copy of | That is not a copy at all, but a schecter original. It's a stilette studio, with active EMGs and generally solid construction. Probably in my mind the most consistently high-quality modern piece that they do.

Hardly any of Schecter models are copies. I mean there will be some similar shapes, but really, there's only so far different you can be whilst still remaining practical. All companies will do the same, not just Schecter.

| | | | I mean the stargazer looks exactly like a ric so my friend had one so I was pretty excited to play it. i mean it was like 600-700$ but it still beats the price of a ric. Well it turned out to be a major disappointment and the only thing making it sound half decent was the EMG's on there. it just seems like every time i've given schecter a chance it's dissapointed me but i wont give up cause it seems like some of you has had some success.
