Let me start by giving you some background info. I have a schecter stiletto custom 4 string which up until the last year or so I have been very happy with. But about a year ago the neck started to bow pretty excessively. I normally do my own tune ups but the bass did not respond to small truss adjustments. So I took the bass to a music store in Erie PA, and then the Guitar center in Mayfield OH, and back to Erie a few more times...
The action would not return to where it was when i first received the bass, so I switched from 105s to 95s. This switch offered some temporary relief. But soon I had to bottom out the bridge to make it playable.
At this point I contacted the guitar center extended warranty company. They told me my warranty ran out three years ago.
I was a little confused because schecter has a lifetime warranty and a warranty extension should last more that a few years.
I was out of options and considered trying to find a replacement neck but was not able to find a suitable match. I contacted the warranty company one last time (months after the first call) and the rep told me that I was still under warranty and the bass would be covered until one year after I die (lifetime warranty plus one year!) They sent me a Fed ex label a few days later but sent it to my parents house in ohio. So after some waiting, phone tag with schecters return department,a short road trip and a lot of bubble wrap the bass was on its way to California.
Schecter just emailed me to say my bass was repaired and they are shipping it back. They only had the bass about a week, so If all is well and it is fixed I will be one happy camper and a satisfied customer.
So guitar center warranty = irritating but helpful eventually
schecter = all good so far!
