Any current owners have any new experience with the basses that they would care to share? I am thinking about getting one (in white ) but have not seen these models come up lately. Good or bad I would like some reviewing words of wisdom.
Thanks, Richard

I had the Diamond Series Deluxe 4 with active electronics and ended up selling it. I just wasn't impressed by the overall tone. It had too clean of a tone, you couldn't get any "growl" out of it. Of course, for some players, that is ideal. It all depends on what you are looking for.

Personally, I would go with the Stilleto series. There are few basses in that price range that can even compare sound wise. Plus, they are awesome looking.

But those are not P basses. The original poster is specifically asking about the Diamond "P".

I've owned a 4 string white one myself for the past 6 months or so. They are incredibly solid basses, and it plays extremely well for the price. I've been able to coax very low action out of it.

The pickup combination is quite versatile. The pickups are on the hot, full side too, but turning down volume knobs helps bring them down, and brings out a little more vintage flavor (slightly less deep bass). They are a little on the sterile side to my ears, probably because of the ceramic magnet, especially the P pickup on the low E string. The split position bridge pickup is a little more mid-rangey than your typical bridge position J-pickup, IMO. Overall, excellent bass! Keep in mind they are quite a bit heavier than a Fender.

Does anyone know if any manufacturer has a pickup the same size as the bridge humbucker on these? Can't seem to find anything, and I'd like to expiriment with pickups...

I have the 5 string version and the pickups from a Fender Am. DLX 5 string P (also the pickguard) and they are different in size enough to make a switch impossible. I doubt that there are any of the same size...... but I don't really know about the 4 string version..... so.... YMMV

I have the Model T. Descent bass. Had the Duncan Design pickups in it. Terrible pickups in my opinion. Replaced the p-bass pickup with a Fender '62. Sounds a little better. Played a few gigs with it before moving it to backup status. I got a good deal for it at GC, 200 bucks. That being said i don't think i would pay full price for one. Not when Squire is making such cool basses these days for cheaper. Sure they need a few up grades, but even with mods your in the same ball park as far as pricing. Not the exact same bass your talking but i hope that helps.

Was the Fender pickup bigger than the one in your Schecter? Thanks for the leads regardless!

Well, Thanks for the replys and thoughts fellow bass lovers.
I did in fact pick up the Diamond p 4 and so far I am very happy with the purchase.
I am still playing with tone finding and plan to change strings b/c I like the sound but getting to much finger noise. That of course could be my lack of experience. Thanks again for your thoughts.
Richard
