Schecter Model T, really worth it?

I saw this on MF and thought it seemed like a somewhat fair price, till I saw how long the wait it to actually get the bass + the shipping costs of the bass. Is this some sort of typo or does it really take this much effort to get one of these?

Has anyone actually played one/owned on? I've seen a lot of bands with bassists whos' bands are endorsed by Schecter. They never play anything with the EMG-HZ's in them, so I'm assuming these are a good bit better sounding and feeling than the Stilettos.

Robert DeLeo from STP seems to think so.

Supposedly rock-solid, and great sounding.

But you know what> I've NEVER seen one in a store-not even a used one!!!

The additional shipping cost is stupid. When MF carried the BC Rich Beast Bass, there was no additonal shiping charge and that bass is much bigger. No reason at all for additional shipping cost on a bass like this one since its very much within the same size and weight area as all the other basses they carry that ship free.

I pulled a couple of Schecters off the wall in a GC a couple months ago.. they all felt and played great. This is partly because Schecter tries to make a point of setting up all their basses before they get shipped to retailers.

I don't know how they hold up long term, but I've been impressed with the two or three I played.

I tried a used five string Model T in GC about a year ago. Sounded good, built like a brick house, looked cool, had to weigh about twelve pounds.

i have owned two of them and thought they were both great. however, both of mine were bought used and selling them was kinda difficult. they just don't have resale value.

Late to the party here. I have one of the black ones with maple fretboard. I absolutely love it.

The MusiciansFriend page is comical. Seriously MF? Just get one from The Mad Ape. I think it's $650, supposedly ships in 2 to 3 days, and the shipping is free. I've never purchased a bass from them but they've been fine to deal withbon pedals.

MF must be on something

How about $599, like they usually cost?

http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/dr...-P876C437.aspx

In stock, and these guys won't try to retire early on the shipping charge.

These are hard to find used, too. I tried to pull the trigger on a really nice black/rosewood/white pearl one on Ebay, but I was too @?#*!& late!

Never saw one in person, but I haven't heard a negative word about them.

I had one (still have the body in my shop) and it was a very nice bass. I didn't like the original pickups so I replaced it with a set of EMG-PJ's and it sounded great. The neck was very nice but the bass weighed about 10lbs so it didn't get much playing time.

More Model Ts, and FREE SHIPPING

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

The sunburst is made in Korea, and the butterscotch in China. Can't tell where the black one was made. It probably doesn't make any difference, but I'd try to get a Korean one, since they are a proven commodity, and were built at the CORT factory.

PS- Just found this one on Amazon. Listed in 2008, and at the old street price of $649, so this was made in Korea, for sure.

They do have the Basslines.

My black one was made in Korea. Great bass. I like the new sunburst one too and am tempted.

Congratulations!

If you don't mind my asking, what was the 'blowout' price, and was it being sold by Amazon directly?

When you've had it for a while, I think we'd all like to see a real review!

I dont mind at all.
I paid $362 and change and that included free shipping. I THINK it was sold directly by Amazon but the bass is at my drummer's house so I havent seen the invoice yet.

We should be rehearsing this weekend so I should have it on Saturday and I can hopefully post something over the weekend.

My Butterscotch was made in South Korea.

Here's an extensive review I did of my bass. Let's just say I'm not as enamored with these as most of you, though I've since gotten better results EQ'ing my Navigator preamp better:
