I've bought two, at different times, for $30 each.

So I picked up one of those P-bass replica Schecter's on Musicans Friend for $299. What a good deal. This is one of the rare times I could actually justify dropping the money on yet another bass lol.

First thoughts out of the box, man this thing is heavy. I have yet to dial in a tone I really like.... I'm kind of getting an envelope filter type sound at the moment but it's not bad. Really deep and vocal. I think it looks great. No sharp edges, everything is cosmetically well done. Good spacing between the strings; it'll take getting used to a 5 string but it should be fun. Can't wait to play some Incubus and 311 with this thing.

Here she is with my other Schecter's. Already have a number, thanks.

Welcome to the 5 string world. Mine weighs about 10.4 pounds, but is so well balanced that I feel less shoulder fatigue than my EBMM SR5 that weighs 10 pounds.

As far as the weird tone, I would try new strings first, and if that doesn't rectify the problem, call Schecter. They are very helpful.

got mine

Very Nice! for a 300.00 buck bass extremely nice!
All I have is a cheapo bathroom scale on which it is slightly under 10lbs give or take, which is why this one is ever so slightly a neck diver. My old SR5 weighed a little more on the same scale. My wide strap with Dunlop dual locks will take care of the dive. Nice B string. Speaking of strings mine came with a tag proclaiming Ernie Ball strings.
Did we get slinky 5s in the 300.00 dollar deal too? Gonna take mine to my gig tomorrow for grins.

yeah, they've been using EB string for a while now. before that they were d'addario and before that they were elixers.

Thanks

Thanks, What a deal. South Korea too, not China. (not that I know which has better luthiers). With the P, and dual J single and double coil pretty easy to find nice tones.

I haven't found many reviews on the Hellraiser, so I've decided to post my own. I've played Mine for two weeks now and here's my impressions: IMHO, ugly. I really don't like the looks at all. ( I bought it mail-order, and had never seen one in person) The sound and flexibility are great. I can coax all kinds of different tones from this ugly duckling. Playability is fantastic! Neck is slender, and to me, feels great. I did notice some small bumps in the finish on the back of the neck. Almost feels like some glue squeezed out from the lamination. I'm gonna try some very fine steel wool to see if they will go away, and hopefully make the overall finish a little smoother. In conclusion, I prefer my 08 Stiletto Extreme. It's lighter, better looking, and plays almost as nicely.

Sorry to hear that, I can't believe the finish isn't perfect because it should be for that much!

Is there a place to get replacement parts? I have all gold hardware, I'd prefer black for my studio 5.

I was just about to mention that buying a bridge is not as easy as buying new knobs (the wrong bridge could make proper intonation almost impossible)...your best bet would be to talk to a good guitar tech and have him source/install a bridge for you.

You may not have that option...some parts are made for production only, and not available on the open market.

I'm not positive, but I think a Gotoh 201 would replace the factory bridge...again, I'd talk to a tech before I spent the money, tho.

- edit - you could try contacting Schecter and asking if they could recommend a replacement...they're pretty good about customer contact.

I was really tempted to snag one of those 5ers during that MF "stupid deal of the day" they had but after thinking about it, I am still going to wait for the 2013 active Diamond P to come out. Something about it just makes me drool.

I haven't heard of it, any videos on YouTube?

I love my 5er, best bass I ever touched. I feel like a much better player than I use to be, with this one. Nice spacing, nice profile off the fret board, sounds sexy as hell.
