Schecter Riot 4

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everyone. I've been reading the forums here for awhile and decided to join in on the great discussions.
Can anyone share any details about the Schecter Riot 4?...not the deluxe. I've found a lot on the Deluxe model but very little on the neck through with EMG's. I had been comparing this with the Peavey Grind. I think both are pretty good mid-quality basses.
I just ordered one sight unseen based on the overall reputation of Schecter and the great deal for any neck through bass. These list at over $1000 but sell for $480 on all the regular sites. Same Day has the Black Cherry model at $347. ZZounds matched the price and gave the option of 4 payments..Hope I made a good buy. If not, I can always send it back.
If anyone has been playing one of these beauties, I would love to hear from you.

That does look super nice for new unblemished at $407. Says the preamp has selectable treble freq center. Which would be on little dip switch on the pc board. Unless push pull treble control pot. Id rather it be the former as Id leave it set at the higher freq esp if around 6k. Anyway Id wager its regular emg 2band eq then rather then the modified no switchable freq's like most stock emg preamps found on most import basses.

Only one Ive tried is the deluxe riot. Good bass but found the esp ltd b154dx & f154dx better to me. However at the silly low price of the neck thru with upgradeed preamp is more equal. Main advantage of the esp ltds mentioned would be 3band eq. The mid control on the esp' s is very useful unlike some whose freq center is just useless to me. Id say your going to be happy with the neck thru riot anyway. Do try both treble freqs to see which one does better job of bit of top add or cut for you mixed with various pup blending positions of blend control for the pups.

Thanks for the advice darkstorm. Strange that I can't find much info, even on the Schecter site, for this bass. All of my searches lead to the Riot Deluxe which is an entirely different bass with the exception of the body shape. I believe there is a Schecter group on this site. I'll check it out also.
Bottom line is I don't think I can go wrong at $347 for a new neck through with the EMG's.
