Semi Acoustic bass...? Basically am just wondering if these are actually playable live, ive found a beauty on ebay second hand, and i want to pull the trigger... Im in a 5 piece hard rock band, would be played through gk mb 500 and a barefaced super 12... Would it have the power to cut through.... etc? Thanks :) |
What do you mean by semi acoustic? Do you mean a regular acoustic bass? Amplified, they're perfectly audible. |
Hello! Yep semi acoustic amplified! |

You might experience feedback. Depending where you are standing. |
Sure, if you have a good amp. Your potential "problem" with this kind of bass is getting uncontrollable feedback. |
Thats a beauty! To be honest its a pure beauty purchase, id only be using it on 1 song per gig (the cover) i just must have it!! :) |
it's not semi acoustic its a tactical assault bass a hollowbody may suit your needs. |
This is what im looking at! Richwood rb58 hunter (2nd 1 down) http://r.twenga.co.uk/g3.php?pg=VDsz...UyYjQ%3D&dac=1 |
that's a fine looking bass and should do fine through your rig. |
That's not the first time I've seen a hollow-bodied bass described as semi acoustic. I suppose it's not really wrong. |
Its a beauty! :) |
That's a cool-looking bass. I just saw an Ibanez ASB140 in the "For Sale" section-you might want to search that out and consider it. I have one, and it's a great bass. |
Im in the uk :( |
hollowbody=empty cavity=possible feedback. Handle with care semihollow=beefy wooden block in the center=solid body=no feedback. Epi Casady, Gibson Midtown, 335, Eb2, Lakland hb, Eastwood classic 4 and afaik the Fano above are semihollows: basically a P or a J but in a much cooler look! ;) |

beautiful, the Allen Woody! Basically-technically all the semihollows with the center block are chambered. But there are exceptions: the Fender Coronado even if a semi hollow (mid height vs. a standard jazz box) was a real hollow (no block) Edit: I get what you mean: chambered because the Allen does not have the holes.... then there also is the Peerless Smoked bass (make a search...) |
