Birds eye maple. Or if you can get clay dots, rosewood.

I am doing a telecaster in shell pink with a rosewood fretboard and matching pink headstock. going to have an aged white pickguard too. i love maple boards but because I have a matching headstock, the color contrast is greater if I use rosewood. just my two cents

Either would be fine. Preferably a maple fretboard with a pearloid white pickguard. Again, either is fine. Mine has a rosewood fretboard on it... only because someone bought a MIM Fender P-Special neck w/maple fretboard before I could.

Mine has a birseye maple neck and fretboard along with a pearloid white pickguard. Best look there is for Shell Pink in my opinion.

Well here's my shell pink 62 Jazz w/ Rosewood and Clay dots

As well as what it'll look like with a tort guard.

Then you need to get Mungibunga to post a pick of his, he has a gorgeous Lakland with maple neck and pearl blocks & guard.

Personally I think both look great and really you can't go wrong.

I have got to agree with Hopkins. Tort will most likely be overkill.
