I would not have expressed myself in that manner, but that's me. Let's put this to rest.
Absolutely. my apologies just trying to see both sides here.

I do find that offensive. Better put that you prefer something else. I guess its a generation thing. I suspect most posters are younger than me..
If what I said is so offensive to you, how do you deal with something really offensive like a personal insult? I work construction and alot of trash gets talked on a daily basis, so I have developed a really thick skin. So if someone told me a color combo I liked was ugly, my reaction would not be to get offended. I would honstly not care.

This post is not a stab at you, I am honestly just trying to see it from your point of view.

I did my Jazz with a blocked maple neck. I had pearl, then a tort guard but neither really did it for me.

I finally found this one - it's pink champagne sparkle, just like the old finishes on Ludwig drums. I like it a lot.

Cel phone pic, but you get the idea. Much better in person.

The PG color is called pink champagne sparkle?
It's an interesting color.
Looks like a bronze kinda from here.

Or am I reading this wrong.
Is the bass that color and the PG is something else?

I don't know, I like it though.

I don't think you will see it through my eyes. Consider this. You work construction. Although I don't work construction, I see nothing wrong with it. I am a teacher. Should I say construction work is a bad choice of career and you should have been a teacher? No, I respect your choice. I don't diss your choice. I simply prefer my career. Simple!

I would take no offense, I would probably agree with you.

I work in the heat, 10 hours a day in a noisy, dirty, and dangerous chemical plant. But it pays well and I get 3 day weekends.

You work in the AC and have summers off.

My hats off to you. Now, we had probably end this discussion as others are starting to find it tiring. Best of luck to you!

Yes, that's the name of the PG finish. These finishes are similar to candy finishes in that the base (sparkles) could be gold, silver or copper. I thought the silver was a little sterile looking and the copper was too dark. I went with the gold - it gave a warmer contrast to the Shell Pink. This is a grainy shot - it has more of a pink tinge. I need to take a better pic.

Here's where it came from.

The bass is a total frankenstein... I bought a shell pink Hoppus when killing time while a friend of mine was taking too long to pick out a strap at GC about ten years ago. Swapped out the neckplate right off the bat and played it for a couple months stock until I found an early '70s neck with tuners for it (I wanted it to feel more like my '74) which made it instantly sound a lot better. Unfortunately it sat lower in the neck pocket, so I had to put a cover on it to give my thumb a place to live since I used to use the pickups as a thumb rest, but they were really far into the body. Somewhere along the line, the pickguard broke, so I got a stack knob plate to replace that part of it... there was an extra hole, so I had my guy add a tone control to it. I never really use it, but it is there if I want to roll off the treble a little bit.

It is one heck of a bass now... probably worth very little, though.

My frankenP is worthless too but it's my 'go to' at the moment. You could have saved me the pain of showing the early 70's neck, I had a '72 P with the thin neck stolen in 89 and I have been trying to re create it ever since...

Anyway, I LOVE your bass.
