Shielding a SCPB=How much Noise Reduction?
I love my new Sting Bass Reissue but it has some inherent noise due to the single coil pickups. If I shield it with copper tape just how much reduction in hum can I expect? I know I could go with a noiseless pickup but I like the tone now. Just want it a bit quieter. Thanks!

The usual bubba shielding can improve ESI but has no effect on 60Hz hum, which is EMI.
There's also nothing special about copper tape in this application.

Hmm, I don't have a before-and-after experience, becuase I've done a couple of SCPB builds that I've added the adhesive copper tape to the pickup and control cavities. It seems to be a worthwhile precaution. I haven't experienced any significant hum, but also wary that some electromagnetic fields will set off any configuration using this pickup type.
