I figure that the answer is probably going to be yes, but I would like opinions of current and previous Roscoe owners.
I am primarily a church musician and I'm looking for a high quality bass that will be my go to bass! Roscoe seems to be building high quality basses that are very affordable in the boutique realm.

The only reason mine is currently for sale is that it's *too* great for some of the dive bar gigs I do and because I am playing a lot of upright. I have thought about this for a month, and finally posted it for sale, though I may come to my senses and take it down. A fantastic-sounding and looking bass. The height of craftsmanship. And though they're not exactly inexpensive, Roscoe basses nevertheless come across as a value.

The tone is real rich through the frequencies an you can dial in plenty of bottom and crystal highs while filling in with mids to taste. I no longer have mine, but I miss it.

This bass will primarily be used at church gigs and church funs. Quote:

But, I am a Roscoe endorser and you should take what I saw with that in mind. Your eyes (and ears) however do not deceive you.

I was just looking at their website and thought that a "Jon Packard " looked familiar.
I believe that I am going to go with the Century model. Can I ask, what drew you to Roscoe that other brands didn't have?
Thanks!

Two are for gigging out and just playing but my Roscoe SKB 3005, shown in my avatar, holds a special place as my church bass. I ordered it with a mahogany body, exhibition maple burl top, 5-piece laminated neck, wenge fingerboard, Roscoe Bartolini pickups, and an Aggie OBP-3 preamp. This instrument sits beautifully in the mix with a nice focused low end, very present and articulate mids that just sing, and a well balanced treble. I have to bump the bass about 1/8 turn to fatten it up and run the mids and treble flat. It sounds very nice just going direct with no effects. We have in ears and a line array and the sound is incredible. The instrument is quite light and quality built with a very stable and comfortable neck. Highly recommended. |

Tone, balance, great neck feel, ergonomic, tone, exceptional electronics, tone... did I mention tone?

The one I had wasn't right for me because of the wood and preamp combination. But the fit and finish and playability was just fantastic. Highly recommended. |

They are pretty individualistic from a build quality so I would see if you can play one before you buy it. Gard is great to work with
Hope this helps

I loved mine but in the end I found I was fighting the ergos just a bit. Totally a personal thing. The tone is awesome, playability damn near perfect, and they are gorgeous. But I am totally in love with my Rob Allens, and for fretted right now for some reason P-basses fit my body the best.
No hesitation on recommending a Roscoe. Gard and the crew are great, and buying from Greg at Rocket is about as good as experience as you can get. |

Me and spanish cedar don't go well together so I sold the one I had a while ago. The ash Roscoes are absolute killers. I'd love Century with the LG pickup configuration.

If you don't wanna break the bank, a Century Standard, or Standard Plus would be a great option, all of the quality, at a lower price point. Or you could go wild, and spec something utterly crazy out!
