SX Ursa 2 MN NA Ash Bass Guitar at RondoMusic.com

they seem like they might be good, at least as far as body and neck go

i'm a guitar player looking to get a bass that will sound good for recording and that i could use on a bass gig every now and then. the main reason i like these basses is that they are cheap. if i need to replace the electronics, i can do that. what do you think talkbass?

I have a short scale similar to it that I really like. I say go for it, if you don't like it you can always return it.

Yeah, there's not a lot of risk involved here. Ya don't like it (for any reason) you have 30 days to send it back for replacement or refund (at Rondo's expense, I believe) The only hassle you have is re-packing it.

Standard advice for SXes:

1) Are you experienced enough to know when you've got a lemon in your hands? If so, go ahead, they sometimes make bad ones but they will take them back without a problem.
2) Expect to have to replace the strings and do a thorough setup.

if you're cool with that, they're excellent value for money
