Been wanting a stingray for while now. For the tone and the looks. But, as with a lot of people at the moment, I'm skint.
MusicMan = Too Much
Sterling = Too Much
SUB = Too Much
OLP = Not too much, but they're hard to find.
So I was thinking about getting this bass ( Westfield B5000 Musicman Bass van Westfield - Vibes Music - Online music equipment & sheet). To me, it looks pretty decent (Hardware, finish etc.) I was thinking about getting then putting that seymour duncan MM pickup in. I quite like how its a vol and tone for each coil, instead of a 3 band pre-amp.
What do you think, guys? Anyone on here had any experiences with Westfield basses?
Cheers guys |

And I don't think I've ever seen a used one in the UK (In America, you probably think them used all the time). The westfield is 170 and the mm pickup is about 70. 240 quid isn't close to 600, in my eyes. I don't want to sound like a dick, I appreciate the suggestion, but it would take me years to save up 600 quid (I'm only a jobless teen).

Use the money you were going to spend on a SD pickup to put towards an advanced bass, it's not gonna do you much good in this bass. |

I wouldn't call that bass a 'Stingray copy'. I'd call it 'some bass that looks somewhat like a Stingray'.

As someone who's tried all the shortcuts (SUB, OLP, etc), let me testify: There is NO substitute for the real deal. Some of those others do come close, but I have found — through thorough research — that there is no substitute for the real thing if you want that sound. Do whatever you have to do to get a real one. You won't regret it.

However - OLP's are kinda off from the musicman tone. Their about just over halfway there. SUB'S are closer, and SBMM's are very, very close, IMO. YMMV
